The search for t{bar t} production in the lepton + jets channel using a soft lepton B tag

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the American Physical Society
OSTI ID:374945
The authors give preliminary results of a search for t{bar t} production in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.8 TeV using data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF). They consider the Standard Model decay t{bar t} {yields} (e or {mu}){nu} + jjb{bar b}. In addition to a high momentum lepton plus multijets, the authors require the presence of an additional electron or muon from the decay b{yields}{ell}{nu}X (or b{yields}c{yields}{ell}{nu}X) as evidence of a b quark in the final state. The results include an anaysis of 19.3 pb{sup {minus}1} of data collected in 1992-93 and improvements for the analysis of data from the ongoing Tevatron run.
