(d,{sup 2}He) reactions with Texas A&M proton spectrometer

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the American Physical Society
OSTI ID:374813
The authors have measured (d,{sup 2}He) cross sections on {sup 1}H, {sup 6}Li, {sup 11}B, {sup 12}C, {sup 13}C, {sup 26}Mg and {sub 27}Al targets in order to investigate the reaction mechanism at an incident energy of 125 MeV. They will present the measured angular distributions over the range 0{degrees}-18{degrees} and then compare the data with DWBA model calculations. The possibility of using the (d,{sup 2}He) reaction to extract the Gamow-Teller transition strengths in the {beta}{sup +} direction will be discussed. Finally as an example of the applications of (d,{sup 2}He) reactions, they will present the Gamow-Teller matrix elements measured for {sup 48}Ti(d,{sup 2}He){sup 48}Sc reactions. These matrix elements are important to constrain calculations for the double beta decay of {sup 48}Ca.
