({ital d},{sup 2}He) reactions at {ital E}{sub {ital d}}=125.2 MeV

We have measured cross sections for ({ital d},{sup 2}He) induced reactions on the {ital p}-shell nuclei {sup 6}Li, {sup 12}C, and {sup 13}C and the {ital sd}-shell nucleus {sup 24}Mg at an energy of {ital E}{sub {ital d}}=125.2 MeV. The measured excitation energy spectra are very similar to those from ({ital p},{ital n}), ({ital n},{ital p}), and ({ital d},{sup 2}He) reactions at higher energies. The measured 0{degree} ({ital d},{sup 2}He) cross sections show a remarkably well-defined linear relation with the Gamow-Teller strengths deduced either from {beta} decay or from ({ital p},{ital n}) reactions. Our results demonstrate that the ({ital d},{sup 2}He) reaction can be used as a powerful tool to study Gamow-Teller strengths in the {beta}{sup +} direction at energies as low as {ital E}{sub {ital d}}=125.2 MeV.
