First angle-resolved photoelectron measurements following inner-shell resonant excitation in a singly charged ion

We have measured the angular distribution of electrons emitted in the autoionization of the giant resonance 3{ital p}{sup 6}4{ital s}{sup 2}{ital S}{r_arrow}[{beta}{ital p}{sup 5}3{ital d}{sup 1}({ital P})4{ital s}]{sup 2}{ital P} in Ca{sup +} ions over the profile of the resonance. The absolute value of the asymmetry parameter we have determined at the top of the resonance is {beta}=1.89{plus_minus}0.13, suggesting that {ital LS} coupling remains a good approximation for the description of this ionic resonance. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
