The relative photoionization cross section of atomic nitrogen across the 2[ital s]2[ital p][sup 3]([sup 5][ital S[ital o]])[ital np]([sup 4][ital P[ital e]]) autoionizing states and the [beta] parameter over the 2[ital s][r arrow]3[ital p] and 4[ital p] resonances are measured using synchrotron-radiation-based photoelectron spectrometry. Results are compared with a multiconfiguration Hartree-Fock calculation. Resonance energies for autoionizing states from [ital n]=3--10 are presented and compared with an eariler experiment. Values of the line-shape parameters [Gamma], [ital q], and [rho][sup 2] and discrete oscillator strengths [ital f] for the 3[ital p], 4[ital p], and 5[ital p] resonances are reported.
