A partnership for pipeline risk management

For the purposes of this talk, risk management is a formalized process through which a company evaluates the risks associated with its operation and determines whether and how to take action to reduce these identified risks. The concept of risk, that is, the concurrent consideration of probability of failure and severity of consequences, is gaining wider and wider acceptance as a useful tool in industry and government`s continual efforts to better protect both the public and the environment. The paper centers on the Partnershipping which is occurring within the pipeline industry and government to explore how formal risk management can become an integral part of the nation`s pipeline safety program.
