Robotic synthesis of L-[methyl-{sup 11}C]methionine

Journal Article · · Radiochemistry
OSTI ID:28618

At present L-[methyl-{sup 11}C]methionine (L-Met) is one of the most widely used positron-emission-tomography (PET) radiopharmaceuticals. It has successfully been applied for diagnosing various tumor types, for studying biochemical processes in vivo, for estimating the metabolism of aminoacids, and for determining the rate of protein synthesis. The L-isomer of methionine is used as a radiotracer since the D-isomer is not normally metabolized.
