The effect of the precipitation conditions on the size and shape of Np(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 2}{center_dot}6H{sub 2}O crystals ([Np] and [HNO{sub 3}], temperature, duration and method of adding precipitant) is studied. Conditions are chosen for preparing well-formed Np(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 2}{center_dot}6H{sub 2}O crystals of a certain size that eliminate precipitation of the acidic Np(IV) oxalate.
