The effect of precipitation conditions on the size and shape of Pu(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 2}{center_dot}6H{sub 2}O crystals ([Pu] and [HNO{sub 3}], precipitation temperature, duration and method of adding precipitant) is studied. As [HNO{sub 3}] increases from 1 to 3 M, the size of the Pu oxalate crystals decreases at all studied [Pu] from 0.01 to 0.10 M. Crystals of Pu(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 2}{center_dot}6H{sub 2}O of uniform size and shape are formed by adding H{sub 2}C{sub 2}O{sub 4} to Pu-nitrate solutions at 30-40{degrees}C. A precipitate of Pu(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 2}{center_dot}6H{sub 2}O with crystals up to 50 {mu}m in size can be produced by increasing the precipitation temperature to 60-70{degrees}C.
