The effect of the concentration of hexafluoropropylene and oxygen and the rate of initiation of the initial reaction sites (dose rate of {gamma}-radiation) on the degree of polymerization of hexafluoropropylene in the 243-303 K temperature range was investigated. It was found to be independent of the concentration of the reactants and rate of initiation. A mechanism of chain transfer based on the nonbreaking reaction of peroxide radicals was proposed.
