If the {ital R}{sub {ital b}} excess at LEP is real, then an explanation in terms of renormalizable loop corrections leads to important new decay modes of the {ital t} quark and suppresses the {ital t}{implies}{ital bW} branching ratio. In the two-Higgs-doublet model, the branching ratio of {ital Z}{implies}{ital b}{ital b}{vert_bar}+a light boson which decays itself predominantly into {ital b}{ital b}{vert_bar} is at least of order 10{sup -}{sup 4}. {copyright} 1995 American Institute of Physics
