Low P{sub t} kaon production in relativistic {sup 28}Si+Pb collisions

Experiment 814 at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Alternate Gradient Synchrotron has recently accumulated good statistics for Kaons from 14.6A GeV/c {sup 28}Si induced reactions at low transverse momentum. Central collisions were selected by a charged particle multiplicity measurement. The forward magnetic spectrometer consisting of a dipole magnet, three drift chambers and a time of flight wall was used to identify Kaons in the P{sub t} region from 0 to 0.25 GeV/c for rapidities 1.8 {le} y {le} 2.4. The authors will report the first results of low P{sub t} yields of Kaons and discuss the results in view of various model predictions.
