Finite element simulation of the bench mark mould filling problem

Numerical solutions of the mould filling stage are presented for the bench mark exercise organized as part of the Conference on the Modeling of Casting, Welding and Advanced Solidification Processes--7. The Navier Stokes equations are discretized by a Galerkin Least Square method. The metal front is tracked by the pseudo-concentration approach, a variant of the volume-of-fluid method. An implicit-explicit combination is used for obtaining efficient numerical solutions.
