Influence of charged particle acceptors on di-2-ethylhexyl sebacate radiolysis

Journal Article · · High Energy Chemistry
OSTI ID:223937

The influence of the concentration of 2-ethylhexanol-1, ethanol, and chlorobenzene additives on the radiation chemical yield of the major end products of di-2-ethylhexyl sebacate radiolysis under vacuum at 323 K was investigated. The increased yields of 2-ethylhexanol-1, heptane, hydrogen, and oxides of carbon are evidence that primary cations are involved in the formation of these products; the decreased yield of 2-ethylhexene indicates that it is formed from secondarily excited molecules. The yield of ion pairs per 100 eV of absorbed energy was calculated according to the acceptor consumption: G{sub ip} = 3.6 {plus_minus} 0.5. 9 refs., 3 figs.
