An advanced 1D/Q3D/F3D software system for aerodynamic design of multistage steam turbines is developed. Flowchart of the system and some principles in operation of the system for aerodynamic design of multistage steam turbines are given and discussed in the present paper. The system has been used for HP, IP and LP flow path design of modernization of Chinese 200MW steam turbines. As expected, a great saving of time and cost has been achieved by using this advanced software system. Field tests performed in some power plants show that 5% of heat rate reduction is obtained, and the difference of the measured value of JP, IP and LP efficiency with the design value is less than one percent.
