Vanadium is known to be selectively extracted by neutral extractants. According to IR, Raman, and UV spectral data, isododecyl alcohol extracts vanadium(V) from hydrochloric acid solutions in the form of the ionic associates [H{sub 3}O{sup +} {center_dot} n(i-C{sub 12}H{sub 25}OH). (3-n)H{sub 2}O][VOCl{sub 4}{sup -}], where n = 1-3. 10 refs., 4 figs.
