Synthesis and prokaryotic expression of the human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to synthesize the gene encoding the mature receptor antagonist for human interleukin-1, using an mRNA-cDNA template. The gene was efficiently expressed in the bacterial vector pGEM-1. 36 refs., 7 figs.
