Au2CuIn crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two Au2CuIn ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Au1- is bonded in a linear geometry to one Cu1+ and one In1+ atom. The Au–Cu bond length is 2.44 Å. The Au–In bond length is 2.67 Å. Cu1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Au1- atoms. In1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Au1- atoms.
