Wisconsin Electric (WE) has spent considerable time evaluating and discuting trends in the electric power industry. The deregulation trend is seen by WE as having benefits to all participants but with many changes for the industry. There will be re-regulated monopolies forming the generation pool, along with transmission and distribution functions. There will be competitive entities that serve the generation, customer service, and energy merchant functions. There also will be new roles for the state and federal agencies. During the transistion, there will be a continuing need for regulatory energy efficiency programs.
