KNa2Cd crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two KNa2Cd ribbons oriented in the (0, 1, 0) direction. K is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Na atoms. Both K–Na bond lengths are 4.07 Å. Na is bonded in a linear geometry to one K and one Cd atom. The Na–Cd bond length is 3.12 Å. Cd is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Na atoms.
