The QCD analysis of the {ital F}{sup {ital p}}{sub 2} and {ital F}{sup {ital d}}{sub 2} structure functions obtained by New Muon Collaboration is presented. It leads to precise determination of the gluon distribution down to {ital x}=0.008. The re-evaluation of the Gottfried sum, i.e., the integral {integral}({ital F}{sup {ital p}}{sub 2}{minus}{ital F}{sup {ital n}}{sub 2}){ital dx}/{ital x},based on better knowledge of the {ital F}{sup {ital d}}{sub 2} at low {ital x}, gives at {ital Q}{sup 2}=4 GeV{sup 2} value 0.235{plus_minus}0.026({ital total}), significantly smaller than 1/3. This result can be interpreted as flavor symmetry violation in the nucleon sea. Similar conclusion was reached from the analysis of Drell-Yan asymmetry measured by NA51 experiment at CERN. {copyright} {ital 1995} {ital American} {ital Institute} {ital of} {ital Physics}.
