The Brookhaven National Laboratory Laser Electron Gamma Source tagged photon facility (LEGS) was used to measure cross sections and photon asymmetries for the reaction D ({gamma}, pn) {pi}{degrees} at large spectator neutron momenta. Polarized photons of energies 190 {le} E{sub gamma} {le} 320 MeV impinged upon a liquid D{sub 2} target. Protons were detected from 20{degrees} {le} {Theta}{sub P} {le} 160{degrees} with a threshold of about 40 MeV. The angular coverage for the neutrons was 20{degrees} {le} {Theta}{sub n} {le} 140{degrees} with a threshold of about 5 MeV. The results were compared with a cascade calculation including NN and {pi}N final state interactions. The calculation is in good accord with the data over large kinematic regions but fails to explain the strength seen in some regions of phase space. This may indicate the influence of {Delta}N rescattering.
