Site construction activities on PVUSA`s 500 kW Kerman US-2 system were delayed in June because of permitting uncertainties. Although the permitting issues have yet to be resolved, the Kerman demonstration remains on schedule for a June 1993 operation date. PG&E is working with the CPUC to clarify the permit requirements, and in the meantime, PVUSA is proceeding with civil and electrical design work and data acquisition system design and procurement. APS delivered 620 10-module panels and installed them on the truss assemblies for their 400 kW US-1 system at Davis. The full array will have 960 of the 10-module panels supported by five rows of fixed 30{degrees} tilt truss assemblies. APS expects to complete their installation in August. A replacement dc junction box for the Sovonics EMT array was delivered in April. The box was conditionally accepted by PVUSA in May after SWTDI agreed to make some field modifications prior to final installation. The field work has been completed, and PVUSA plans to install the new box and bring the array back into operation in early July. The repackaged Dickerson ``B`` inverter for Siemens` 174 kW US-1 system was delivered and reinstalled in April. The inverter passed PG&E`s acceptance tests and ran intermittently in May, but Siemens was unable to get the system to run trouble-free with either the unchanged ``A`` inverter or new ``B`` inverter. PVUSA and Siemens met in June to discuss options for bringing the system on line, including a field testing plan for the Dickerson inverter and possible replacement of the Dickerson inverters with inverters from a different manufacturer. One of the Robbins passive trackers on the SSI US-1 system, which presently uses refrigerant R-22 as a working fluid, was replaced with one which uses R-134a. Siemens plans to use R-134a in the trackers at the Kerman site. Preliminary results suggest the R-134a tracker is working better than the original trackers.
