Results of Experimental Investigation into Noble Metal Catalyzed Decomposition of Sodium Tetraphenylborate
Previous research at the Savannah River Technology Center (SRTC) indicated that palladium with mercury effectively catalyzed the decomposition of sodium tetraphenylborate. However, to support the decision to implement the Small Tank Precipitation Process, High Level Waste Engineering requested that SRTC further explore the nature of the form of palladium that produced this catalytic reaction and also to determine if similar forms of other noble metals might produce similar results. This report details the findings of a research program designed to provide initial answers to some of these questions.
