Title: Reduction of Nitrogen Oxide Emission for Lean Burn Engine Technology Final Report CRADA No. TC-315-92C

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/761752· OSTI ID:761752

This program was a collaborative effort between the Low Emissions Technologies Research and Development partnership (LEP), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), and other DOE Laboratories to develop advanced catalysts and catalytic converter systems to meet current and near-future mandated Clean Air Act standards for motor vehicle emissions, with emphasis on reducing nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions. In addition to meeting clean-air standards with present technology, the development and implementation of improved catalyst and converter systems for NOX reduction will aid the commercialization effort of advanced engines. These systems represent the next major step in engine technology. During the project, both the exhausts of diesel systems and the advanced lean-burn gasoline engine were investigated for post engine treatment of NOX.
