GAS-COOLED REACTOR COOLANT CHOICE
A compilation is presented of the technical information presently available which bears on the problem of selecting a coolant for the graphite- moderated gascooled reactor. The problems with respect to helium containment and availability, the status of the technology on carbon dioxide-graphite reactions, the influence of coolant choice on power cost, and the compatibility of carbon dioxide with various fuel cladding materials are discussed.
