Title: The Concentration of Peroxide in Uranyl Sulfate Solutions at Incipient Precipitation

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/4106394· OSTI ID:4106394

The concentrations of peroxide in uranyl sulfate solutions at incipient precipitation of uranium peroxide were determined at 79 to 114 ts C. The results of the experimental observations were used to calculate a self- consistent set of numerical parameters that are related to the equilibrium of hydrogen peroxide, uranyl ions, and hydrogen ions. The observed concertrations of peroxide at saturation were found to follow the relation: P/sub (sa//sub t/) = STA1.0 + 36O(H/sup +/)/sup 2//(UC/sub 2/ i/sup ++/)! x 10/sub -4/ in terms of the stoichiometric acid and uranyl ion>i concentrations investigated.
