Final Report for DOE Grant DE-SC0012476
- Univ. of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA (United States)
Our research accomplished the 3 objectives described in the proposal: We successfully launched research careers in cancer molecular imaging and/or radiochemistry for the two faculty members and 4 trainees supported by the program. We completed studies testing and validating approaches to measuring glutamine metabolism in breast cancer pre-clinical models using both 18F- and 11C-labeled agents. A clinical trial of [18F](2S,4R)4-fluoro-glutamine will be opening in the next 2 months. We successfully translated studies of FLT PET applied to cell-cycle targeted therapy to a clinical study, and we have recently completed pre-clinical work demonstrating the combination of ISO-1 and FLT PET can measure the contribution of individual components of combined cell cycle and ER-targeted treatments. Work on this aim also produced exciting developments in imaging PARP expression in breast and other cancers.
