Title: Evidence for the suppressed decay $B^{-} \to D K^{-}$ , $D \to K^{+} π^{-} π^{0}$

Abstract

We report a study of the suppressed decay B^– → DK^–, D → K⁺π^–π⁰, where D denotes either a D⁰ or a D⁰¯ meson. The decay is sensitive to the CP-violating parameter Φ₃. Using a data sample of 772 × 10⁶ BB¯ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector, we measure the ratio of branching fractions of the above suppressed decay to the favored decay B^– → DK^–, D → K^–π⁺π⁰. Our result is R_DK = [1.98 ± 0.62(stat) ± 0.24(syst)] × 10^–2, which indicates the first evidence of the signal for this suppressed decay with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations. We measure the direct CP asymmetry between the suppressed B^– and B⁺ decays to be A_DK = 0.41 ± 0.30(stat) ± 0.05(syst). We also report measurements for the analogous quantities R_Dπ and A_Dπ for the decay B^– → Dπ^–, D → K⁺π^–π⁰.

Observation of the Doubly Cabibbo-Suppressed Decay $D^{+} \to K^{+} π^{+} π^{-} π^{0}$ and Evidence for $D^{+} \to K^{+} ω$

Using 2.93 fb^–1 of e⁺e^– collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, the first observation of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay D⁺ → K⁺π⁺π^–π⁰ is reported. After removing decays that contain narrow intermediate resonances, including D⁺ → K⁺η , D⁺ → K⁺ω, and D⁺ → K⁺Φ, the branching fraction of the decay D⁺ → K⁺π⁺π^–π⁰ is measured to be (1.13 ± 0.08_stat ± 0.03_syst) × 10^–3. The ratio of branching fractions of D⁺ → K⁺π⁺π^–π⁰ over D⁺ → K^–π⁺π⁺π⁰ is found to be (1.81 ± 0.15)%, which corresponds to (6.28 ± 0.52) tan⁴ θ_C, where θ_C is the Cabibbo mixing angle. This ratio is significantly larger than the corresponding ratios for other doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays. The asymmetry of the branching fractions of charge-conjugated decays D^± → K^±π^±π^∓π⁰ is also determined, and no evidence for CP violation is found. In addition, the first evidence for the D⁺ → K⁺ω decay, with a statistical significance of 3.3σ, is presented and the branching fraction is measured to be B(D⁺ → K⁺ω) = (5.7more »« less

Charm meson oscillations are observed in a time-dependent analysis of the ratio of D⁰ → K⁺π^–π⁺π^– to D⁰ → K^–π⁺π^–π⁺ decay rates, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^–1 recorded by the LHCb experiment. The measurements presented are sensitive to the phase-space averaged ratio of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed to Cabibbo-favored amplitudes r^K3π_D and the product of the coherence factor R^K3π_D and a charm mixing parameter y'_K3π.
