Measurement of the ${}^{10}B (α, n_{0})^{13} N$ cross section for $2.2 < E_{α} < 4.9 MeV$ and its application as a diagnostic at the National Ignition Facility

We present that the National Ignition Facility (NIF) provides the opportunity to study nuclear reactions under controlled conditions at high temperatures and pressures at a level never before achieved. However, the timescale of the deuterium-tritium (DT) implosion is only a few nanoseconds, making data collection and diagnostics very challenging. One method that has been proposed for obtaining additional information about the conditions of the implosion is to activate a dopant material using the α particles produced from the DT fuel as a diagnostic. Dynamics of the quasielastic ${}^{16}O (e, e^{'} p)$ reaction at $Q^{2} \approx 0.8 {(GeV / c)}^{2}$

The physics program in Hall A at Jefferson Lab commenced in the summer of 1997 with a detailed investigation of the 16O(e,e'p) reaction in quasielastic, constant (q,w) kinematics at Q² ~ 0.8 (GeV/c)², q ~ 1 GeV/c, and w ~ 445 MeV. Use of a self-calibrating, self-normalizing, thin-film waterfall target enabled a systematically rigorous measurement. Differential cross-section data for proton knockout were obtained for 0 < Emiss < 120 MeV and 0 < pmiss < 350 MeV/c. $(d, n)$ proton-transfer reactions on ${}^{9}{Be}, {}^{11}B, {}^{13}C, {}^{14, 15}N$ , and ${}^{19}F$ and spectroscopic factors at $E_{d} = 16 MeV$

The (d,n) reaction has been studied with targets of ⁹Be, ¹¹B, ¹³C, ^14,15N, and 19F at E_d = 16MeV using a deuterated liquid-scintillator array. Advanced spectral unfolding techniques with accurately measured scintillator response functions were employed to extract neutron energy spectra without the need for long-path neutron time-of-flight. An analysis of the proton-transfer data at forward angles to the ground states of the final nuclei, using finite-range distorted-wave Born approximation analysis with common bound-state, global, and local optical-model parameter sets, yields a set of self-consistent spectroscopic factors.
