Abstract

The primary objective of the 2005 Washoe County Travel Characteristics Study was to document travel behavior data characteristics of regional households in Washoe County, Nevada, in order to update the regional transportation model. The household travel survey, which was conducted from October through November, was one of several surveys conducted in the fall of 2005 for the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County, with the other surveys focusing on documenting transit usage, visitor travel behavior, and external travel through the region. The data collected were drawn from 1,174 households within the RTC planning area and contain information about 2,679 household members, 2,138 vehicles, and 11,077 unlinked trips. The household travel survey entailed the collection of activity and travel information for all household members regardless of age during a specific 24-hour period. The survey relied on the willingness of regional households to 1) provide demographic information about their household, its members, and its vehicles and 2) have all household members record all travel and activity for a specific 24-hour period, including address information for all locations visited, trip purpose, mode, and travel times.

The 2005 Spokane and Kootenai County Regional Travel Survey is a comprehensive survey of the travel patterns of households in Spokane County, Washington, and Kootenai County, Idaho. 1997 Broward Travel Characteristics Study

The Broward Travel Characteristics Study was initiated in February 1996 to identify localized socioeconomic and travel characteristics that could be used to improve the travel forecasting accuracy of the Florida Standard Urban Transportation Model System for Broward County. The survey recruited 2,625 households. Of these, 880 households completed the survey, indicating household demographic and socioeconomic characteristics (household verification survey). 33% of the households also completed a Direct Utility Assessment survey used to estimate the propensity for using transit. A total of 1,651 daily trips were extracted from the travel log survey over a 2-week period.
2015 Madison County, Indiana, In the Moment Travel Study

The 2015 In the Moment Travel Study—a pilot study—captured the travel behavior and characteristics of residents in Madison County, Indiana. The Madison County Council of Governments sponsored the study, which was administered by Resource Systems Group and conducted from February to March 2015. 1998/99 Thurston County Household Travel Study

The survey was conducted under the auspices of the Thurston Regional Planning Council, and it was funded through a state grant awarded to Intercity Transit of Olympia, Washington. Data collection was from September 1998 through March 1999. The purpose of the study was to provide data for the continuing development and refinement of the Regional Travel Demand Forecasting Model, as well as to provide a better understanding of travel behavior in the southern Puget Sound region of Washington. 1994 Treasure Coast Travel Characteristics Study

The Treasure Coast Travel Characteristics Study was initiated in January 1995 in order to improve the travel forecasting accuracy of the Florida Standard Urban Transportation Model System for this area. The main objective of the surveys was to establish the socioeconomic and travel characteristics of the Treasure Coast Area of Mart, St. Lucie, and Indian River Counties. A total of 1,531 households participated in the study. The household study was separated into multiple parts: one used phone interviews to collect data and another provided travel logs for study participants to fill out, ranging from one- to three-day logs.
