The as-cast Al-30Ti-20V alloy ingot has a lamellar {gamma} + {beta} microstructure. The interface between the {gamma} and {beta} phases is {l_brace}111{r_brace}{sub {gamma}}//{l_brace}110{r_brace}{sub {beta}}, which is different from the interface between B2 and {gamma}. Order domain boundaries form in {gamma} lamellae by the impingements of separately nucleated and growing lamellar {gamma} domains. The {beta} phase in the Al30Ti-20V alloy is short range ordered. The observation of SRO in the {beta} phase confirms that the {beta} {r_arrow} B2 ordering in Ti-Al-V system is a second order transformation. The appearance of a ductile {beta} phase in the lamellar {gamma} + {beta} structure is expected to enhance the low temperature ductility of the {gamma} based alloys.
