The advantages of the system are: reduced waste to County landfill from 39 cu. yd/day in 1991 to 3 cu. yds/day, YTD in 1995; reduced burnable waste to Thilmany landfill by over 50%; extended life of Thilmany landfill from 15 to 30 years; reduced purchased fuel cost; reduced landfill costs; and waste fuel handling feed and preparation systems are difficult to optimize, but over time can be perfected, reduce landfill costs and save on purchased energy costs.
