This IBM Redbook provides an overview of AIX Version 4.3 security. AIX provides many security features that can be used to improve security. The emphasis is on the practical use of these security features, why they are necessary, and how they can be used in your environment. Also recommended are guidelines and best practices when there are many different ways to achieve a secure system. The exponential growth of networks has caused more and more computers to be connected together, which creates an excellent environment for information exchange and sharing. As an increasingly large amount of confidential information is stored and transmitted over public networks, such as the Internet, it becomes imperative that information security be implemented in an effective and efficient manner. This book covers different aspects of security present in AIX 4.3, including user accounts, file systems, networks, and security management. With its detailed product coverage, this book is intended for experienced AIX system administrators who are taking on the role of security administration.
