Reverse osmosis in the metal finishing industry

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:91660

Reverse osmosis (RO) technology has been employed in the metal finishing industry for recovery of plating chemical from rinse water as well as purification of mixed wastewater to allow its reuse. In plating chemical recovery applications, RO units separate the valuable metal salts from rinse solutions, yielding a concentrated metal solution which can be recycled to the plating bath, and water of sufficient purity for use in rinsing.
