The Pennsylvania Public Education Program on the Need for Establishing a Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Site (PELLRAD) is a public service program of the Pennsylvania State University. Its mission is to present to the public timely information and continuing education programs on all issues related to low-level radioactive waste management and disposal. The PELLRAD program monitors and reports on the process and the progress of siting, construction, and the eventual operation of a low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) disposal facility in Pennsylvania. The goal of the PELLRAD staff to help the citizens of Pennsylvania make informed decisions concerning the final location of the proposed Appalachian States Compact`s LLRW disposal facility. All information and programs are provided to the citizens of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia at no charge. Because the initial site is to be established in Pennsylvania, almost all of the presentations are given to citizens of this state.
