A large-scale verification test program extending for five years was planned by Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan (MITI) as a national project, funded by the government and has been administered by JAPEIC. The objectives of this project are to further improve the capability of flaw detection technology for steam generator (SG) tubings in PWR type nuclear power plants (NPPs) and to verify the achieved capability on actual scale mock-up SG tubing. This verification test is expected to further enhance the structural safety and reliability of PWR type NPPs. This paper describes the overall plan of this project and its present progress status.
