The relative photoionization cross sections for the formation of H₂O⁺, OH⁺, and H⁺ from H₂O were measured at high wavelength resolution using a 3-meter photoionization mass spectrometer equipped with a quadrupole mass filter and a 1-meter photoionization mass spectrometer equipped with a 12-inch radius, 60° sector magnetic mass spectrometer. Discrete structure in the parent ion photoionization efficiency curve is interpreted in terms of Rydberg series converging to excited states of the H₂0⁺ ion.
