Search for b --> u Transitions in B{sup -} to {bar D}{sup 0}K{sup -} and B{sup -} --> {bar D}*{sup 0}K{sup -}

The authors report on searches for B{sup -} --> {bar D}{sup 0}K{sup -} and B{sup -} --> {bar D}*{sup 0}K{sup -}, with {bar D}*{sup 0} --> {bar D}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} or {bar D}*{sup 0} --> {bar D}{sup 0}{gamma}, and {bar D}{sup 0} --> K{sup +} {pi}{sup -} (and charge conjugates). These final states, which the authors donate as [K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}]{sub D}K{sup -} and [K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}]{sub D*}K{sup -}, can be reached through the b --> c transition B{sup -} --> D(*){sup 0}K{sup -} followed by the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed D{sup 0} --> K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, or through the b --> u transition B{sup -} --> {bar D}(*){sup 0}K{sup -} followed by the Cabibbo-favored {bar D}{sup 0} --> K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, or through interference of the two. The results are based on 227 million {Upsilon}(4S) --> B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC.
