First Observation of Inclusive B Decays to the Charmed Strange Baryons {Xi}{sub c}{sup 0} and {Xi}{sub c}{sup +}

Using data collected in the region of the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the CLEO II detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), they present the first observation of B mesons decaying into the charmed strange baryons {Xi}{sub c}{sup 0} and {Xi}{sub c}{sup +}. The authors find 79 {+-} 27 {Xi}{sub c}{sup 0} and 125 {+-} 28 {Xi}{sub c}{sup +} candidates from B decays, leading to product branching fractions of {Beta}({bar B} {yields} {Xi}{sub c}{sup 0}X){Beta}({Xi}{sub c}{sup 0} {yields} {Xi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}) = (0.144 {+-} 0.048 {+-} 0.021) x 10{sup -3} and {Beta}({bar B} {yields} {Xi}{sub c}{sup +}X){Beta}({Xi}{sub c}{sup +} {yields} {Xi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +}) = (0.453 {+-} 0.096{sub -0.065}{sup +0.085}) x 10{sup -3}.
