Measurements of the branching fractions of charged B decays to K+pi-pi+ final states
- SLAC
We present preliminary results of searches for exclusive charged-B decays to K{sup {+-}} {pi}{sup {-+}}{pi}{sup {+-}} from 61.6 million B{bar B} pairs collected at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEPII asymmetric B Factory. The Dalitz plot is divided into eight regions and, using a maximum-likelihood fit, we measure statistically significant yields in all regions. We interpret the results as the following branching fractions averaged over charged-conjugate states: {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} K*{sup 0}(892){pi}{sup +}, K*{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) = (10.3 {+-} 1.2{sub -2.7}{sup +1.0}) x 10{sup -6}, {Beta}(B{sup +} f{sub 0}(980)K{sup +}, f{sub 0} {yields} {pi}{sup +} {pi}{sup -}) = (9.2 {+-} 1.2{sub -2.6}{sup +2.1}) x 10{sup -6}, {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {chi}{sub c0}K{sup +}, {chi}{sub c0} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) = (1.46 {+-} 0.35 {+-} 0.12) x 10{sup -6} and {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {bar D}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}), {bar D}{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -} = (184.6 {+-} 3.2 {+-} 9.7) x 10{sup -6}. The first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic and includes resonance-model and interference uncertainties. We give 90% confidence-level upper limits on the branching fractions of the following channels: {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} {rho}{sup 0}(770)K{sup +}) < 6.2 x 10{sup -6} and {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} K{sup +} {pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +} non-resonant) < 17 x 10{sup -6}.
