Journal Article · · Solar Industry Journal

In the past seven years, hundreds of companies of all sizes, in industries as diverse as computers, farm implements and motorcycles, are revamping their corporate culture and recasting their investment to form cooperative links both vertically - down their supply lines - and horizontally - with their peers, universities and research labs. By taking advantage of complementary strengths while also sharing risks and rewards, partners can operate better, more quickly, and more economically than each company can individually. The US solar industry has developed an array of vibrant strategic partnerships with customers, states and communities and the federal government. These partnerships are emerging as driving forces which will help propel the US industry in the competitive global marketplace. For the US solar industry and its partners, the race to succeed in the competitive global marketplace is not over. However, growth of world markets for solar products and services confirms that the rewards of export-led job growth are well within reach.
