  1. Foster Wheeler Corp., Clinton, NJ (United States)
As first generation pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) plants are built and operated, attention is now focused on a new generation of PFBC plants offering increased efficiency and lower cost. At Foster Wheeler, such a plant is under development based on an advanced PFBC cycle. The path to successful, worldwide commercialization involves conceptual design, pilot- and semi commercial-scale testing, and demonstration. Post pilot plant testing is being conducted at the Wilsonville Power System Development Facility operated by Southern Company Services. The 7-MWe DOE/Industry cost-shared plant, designed by Foster Wheeler, Will provide parametric and long-term process testing of the advanced PFBC cycle with emphasis on testing advanced high-temperature, high-pressure gas cleanup systems. This paper describes the design and operating philosophy of the plant.
