The evolution of markets for environmental products and services in each nation follows a fairly predictable and uniform path. However, each nation, or groups of nations, are at different points along this path. Business development on an international level is therefore a very challenging task for an environmental firm. Many dedicated environmental product and service companies and a growing number of multinational corporations look to international markets to maintain strong growth for their business in the 1990s and beyond. The global market for environmental products and services in terms of revenues generated now approaches $300 billion. Most activity is understandably in developed nations but the highest rates of growth are in the newly developing nations.
