Perovskite-like solid solutions based on lanthanum manganite are promising materials for electrodes of high-temperature electrochemical devices with oxide solid electrolytes. Substitution of lead for lanthanum significantly enhances the electrical conductivity both of ceramic materials and of electrode layers of manganites; in addition, the substitution increases the catalytic activity of mixed oxides. La{sub 0.8}Pb{sub 0.2}MnO{sub 3} has been recommended as a material for the electrodes of electrochemical oxygen sensors. The present work studies the physicochemical and electrochemical properties of La{sub 1-x}Pb{sub x}MnO{sub 3} (x = 0.1-0.6) mixed oxides.
