N[sub 2]-broadening coefficients have been measured for 29 lines of CH[sub 3][sup 35]Cl in the P and R branches of the [nu][sub 3] band in the region 684-764 cm[sup [minus]1]. These lines with J values ranging from 3 to 46 and K ranging from 3 to 9 were recorded using a tunable diode-laser spectrometer. The halfwidth values were obtained through a nonlinear least-squares fitting procedure. The variation of the halfwidths with the rotational quantum number K and J has been examined.
