Quantitative detection of gases in the atmosphere using high spectral resolution requires that accurate values for line position, line strength, and self broadening and air broadening coefficients be available for individual vibration-rotation transitions. Here, self and air broadening coefficients were obtained for vibration-rotation transitions in the [nu][sub 2] and [nu][sub 5] bands of [sup 12]CH[sub 3]F. Dependence of the air and self broadening parameters upon the rotational quantum number, J, were also derived for unblended lines. The data reported here show no sign of a dependence on the K quantum number for the self broadening coefficient.
