Nuclear structure study of /sup 141/Nd, /sup 143/Nd, and /sup 143/Pm by /sup 13/C-induced reactions on /sup 142/Nd. [Angular distributions, spectroscope factors, 67. 5 MeV]
Angular distributions at a bombarding energy of 67.5 MeV were measured for the /sup 142/Nd(/sup 13/C, /sup 14/C)/sup 141/Nd, /sup 142/Nd(/sup 13/C, /sup 12/C) /sup 143/Nd, and /sup 142/Nd(/sup 13/C, /sup 12/B)/sup 143/Pm reactions. Spectroscopic factors were obtained by comparing finite-range recoil distorted-wave Born approximation calculations with the data. Spin assignments were made for the nucleus /sup 141/Nd. The usefulness of heavy-ion induced transfer reactions in preferentially populating high spin states in the final nucleus is discussed. The distorted-wave Born approximation predictions are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental angular distributions except in cases of poor angular momentum matching in the entrance and exit channels.
