Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7364283
Guidelines for measurement of pollutants for which National Ambient Air Quality Standards have been promulgated are presented along with background information directly applicable to the Management Manual sections of field documents written for each method. Pollutants and methods of sampling and analysis covered include: sulfur dioxide (spectrophotometric pararosaniline method), photochemical oxidants as ozone (chemiluminescence), suspended particulates (high-volume method), nitrogen dioxide (chemiluminescence), and carbon monoxide (nondispersive infrared). Topics covered under background information for field documents include: the selection of auditing schemes, cost implications, and data quality assessment. Appendices are provided for computer simulation, sensitivity analysis, frequency distributions, estimation of the mean and variance of various comparisons of interest, and control charts.
