Levels in /sup 28/Si via the /sup 26/Mg(/sup 3/He,n) reaction

The /sup 26/Mg(/sup 3/He,n)/sup 28/Si reaction at E3/sub He/=15 MeV has been studied. Relative strengths to excited states in /sup 28/Si are determined from a distorted wave Born-approximation analysis of the data. The ratios S (0/sup +/J/sup pi/)/S (0/sup +/..-->..0/sup +/) for the lowest J/sup pi/=2/sup +/, 4/sup +/ states compare favorably with predictions based on pure SU/sub 3/ symmetry. When compared with results from the /sup 24/Mg(/sup 6/Li,d)/sup 28/Si a consistent picture for the structure of the 0.0 (0/sup +/), 1.78 (2/sup +/), 4.62 (4/sup +/), 4.98 (0/sup +/), and 6.69 (0/sup +/) MeV levels in /sup 28/Si is suggested.
